Day 3 – 30 July 2014 – Bournemouth, England

We left the hotel half an hour earlier than yesterday (6 am), after having abut 3 hours sleep, I just am not sleeping well, LOL. Anyway, we followed the advice we were given last night and drove just west of Poole to Hamworthy Park. It was really pretty with rows of those little beach huts running along the beach side. The virtual munzees where all over the park, with an occasional physical munzee on a beach hut, a sign or a fence, so we just wandered!
There was a man digging up the rather rocky beach looking for rag worms ( a fishing bait) and a few dog walkers, it was a lovely morning.
Stopped off at another Tesco Express for some BLT sandwiches for breakfast which we ate in a park with lots of weeping willows. From there we walked the rest of those mysteries we did that small circle of on the first afternoon we were here, so now all that lot is as red as we could get it. We were lucky in the fact that most of these lamp posts hadn’t been got at yet by the council, but I’m sure they will get to them, they definitely needed painting.
We grabbed lunch at a Lidl store (supermarket chain) and then we finished off the last road of mysteries. Back to the hotel for a feet up session and then we walked down to the rover collection point and gathered those that had been reassigned for taking to London. Then back to car and just a bit north east of Bournemouth to a large area know as Queen’s Park. It’s a multi-use area, some grassed, some wooded and a golf course running through it as well as all the dog walking pathways, crisscrossing the lot. There is a large collection of virtuals in specific colours delineating the flag of Dorset, sadly it’s now all red, LOL. Back to the hotel to park the car and find dinner. We had a great burger and sweet potatoes fries, and are now relaxing and getting ready for bed and packing in the morning. Leaving here for Chelmsford tomorrow, but meeting another munzer in Christchurch on the way. Helen is doing a great job driving us around, the roads here can get very confusing especially with all these roundabouts, we have only had to go all the way around a couple of times so far, LOL, and I haven’t managed to get us too lost, not like last year in Essex!!!  Catch you later!  L:-)

Day 2 photos and the rest of the day

T
his is one of those sights I really like on the English coast. At 7 am no water and the boats all on the ground. At 10 am water and floating boats.

After our afternoon sojourn in the hotel, we walked down the road, over a roundabout and into a Tesco Express to pick up some bottled water and some snacking stuff including some very nice wraps for a very very late lunch. From there we drove up to the main road and parked in The Grasshopper car park, all ready for our meet with some local munzee hunters. As we were early we went for a walk down to a line of rubies and diamonds, which took us 10 minutes to get to, but it was a pleasant suburb to walk through. We managed 15 km today. We met Herbie, Jamspongeandouzy, Pilsleyguy and Ubique (the latter was our clan leader a couple of clan wars ago!). Had a very pleasant evening chatting munzee and life in general, and left about 9.30 when the breeze starting getting chilly, still in twilight, it’s light so late here, it’s great for munzeeing, lol.

Day 2 – 29 July 2014 – Bournemouth, England

Well about the main thing I can say about today is, it is HOT. Well 27 anyway, which when walking around various open grassed areas, beaches and lake sides is hot, lol.
We were on the road by 6.30 and drove down to the peninsula of Sandbanks. After trying to work out the very confusing parking meter (said 24 hr parking charge as well as only between 8 & 19.00), we walked the streets scanning mysteries. There was also a nice field of mystery virtuals, as well as normal virtuals, so we covered a lot of ground. There is a way to do a mass capture of 100 virtuals at a time, but we do prefer to get them manually. However in between the mysteries and all the virtuals we managed a full English breakfast, very yummy it was too.
From there we carried on up the main road towards Poole and stopped at another mystery virtual field and then another and another, almost in a circle back to where we started if there hadn’t been lots of water in the way! Lots of walking, just over10 kms so far today.
Currently in our room having a little rest, and about to go back out again.

Day 1 photos + the end of the day

Sorry, I wrote the last post sitting near the reception area waiting for our room, so didn’t get a chance to add the photo. So here it is and the end of our day.

The Pier at Bournemouth.

After a bit of a rest we drove out of the city a little way and captured a nice playing field of mystery virtuals (oops forgot the photos of that one) and once parked back at the hotel we wandered down to the beach looking for something to eat. Well, ice cream parlours everywhere, but not much of anything else. We ended up having a fish burger from the ‘world famous’ Harry Ramsden’s, which we had never heard of and apparently it’s the largest fish & chip shop in the world!!!! We sat watching the holidaymakers on the beach & in the water and then wended our way back to our room and some sleep!

Day 1 – 27th August 2014 – Travelling

Helen & Gary picked me up just after 13.00, and had an uneventful trip to the airport. Our first surprise was that even though Helen had done our boarding passes online, we had to have a temporary boarding pass seating us in the back of the plane. All the passengers had to sit in the back (except business of course) because the front hold of the plane had been filled with cargo. Mind you there must have only been about 100 of us, the plane was only 1/3 full. Once we moved to our proper seats we were able to space ourselves out and have a couple of seats each. It was a shame really that it was the short 6 hour flight, but it went smoothly enough, considering we boarded early and we also took off 20 minutes ahead of time! How often does that happen???

We didn’t have to spend much time in Kuala Lumpur as they loaded early as well. Lots more people s it was one of those double-decker ones, but our seats were in the upper deck. Long way down to the ground, LOL. No spreading out this time sadly, the top deck was quite full, no idea what the lower deck was like! It was a fairly bumpy 13 hr flight, and of course, every time they put the seat belt sign on they had to announce it to all those sleeping people. Both main meals for the 2 flights, choice of chicken or fish. Helen had the chicken both times and I had the fish. Helen didn’t do well with hers, the sauce was too spicy in one and the rice too spicy in the other. However the Spanish omelette we had for breakfast was very nice. We whizzed through the landing stuff, and were out waiting for the bus to take us to the hire car place 30 minutes after landing! Another great surprise.

We got the car and of course it had started to rain, nothing surprising there, lol. So there was Helen once again driving a manual, with the windscreen wipers & indicators on opposite sides of the steering wheel to ‘normal’. There had been an accident on the M3 which meant we sat there or crawled for half an hour or so, but the rain had stopped and wait for it, we saw blue skies & sunshine!!!!

We found the Tourist Bureau where we had to drop off 262 rovers (mobile munzees for those of you who don’t follow the game, LOL) and had a sandwich for lunch at 10 am. Then we drove to another part of Bournemouth to do a mystery munzee trail. Sadly a lot of the light poles had recently been repainted, so the munzees were not to be seen. But it was nice to get out and about after sitting through the flights and the drive.

Currently waiting for our room so we can put our feet up for a bit and then go out for a little bit of local munzee hunting around the hotel, nothing too much, too tired. Here’s hoping we have a good night’s sleep.

The Day

Well I was up at 2.30 and by 8.15 had the house finally organised, the washing and the packing done. Now I’m off for a nap before Helen and Gary pick me up! Take care L 🙂 xo

The day before (again)

Well folks, it’s once again the day before a munzee trip, a big one this time, Helen and I are going back overseas! Leaving here lunchtime tomorrow and flying to Heathrow, where Bournemouth will be our first stop, then up to Chelmsford to stay with family for 3 nights. Going to be great fun, lots and lots of walking and hopefully lots and lots of munzees.

Now all I need to do is clean house, wash, pack, deliver the babies to the pet-sitter, more cleaning house and packing, as well as finishing off Osborne Park Show stuff and making notes for Maria so she can find things in the house when she comes over to do her own munzee hunting stint.

So take care and will probably add another post just before I leave tomorrow!  L : -) xoxo
